That's awesome! I thouht it was a scan. Really nice job... Illustrator drives me insane. Would you mind if I used this as a texture for my (non commercial) 3d work at some point?

wow.. thanks!! it was my first time using a gradient mesh.

but what do you mean by using it as a texture.. ??

what kind of 3D work do you do? what program do you use? :)
:iconpookyminh:
aww.. thanks Mikey!! it was my first time doing this "gradient mesh".

A texture is like a paint job on a 3D model... You build the model, and you basically paste an image onto it.

Commercially I do logos, special effects, titles, and all sorts of graphics for production houses. For personal work, right now I'm just learning how to transfer my classical animation skills to 3d. I use 3D Studio MAX, as well as Wings 3D (which is free, powerful, easy and a great way to get into 3d! www.wings3d.com).

I've got a few pieces of 3d stuff in my gallery, both commercial and personal. Eventually, I think I want to work on games.

wow. that's great! 3D Studio MAX is a very challenging program.. i've never heard of Wings 3D.. maybe i'll check it out. have you worked with Maya? it's also a 3D program, but i think it's mainly for MacIntosh/Apple computers.

well that answers my questions :) you are welcome to use it as a texture :)

DUDE! NIce!!! it looks so real, i was like... why did she upload a clock? LOL fantastic!

I'm meaning to arrange a meeting with one of my friends so that he can show me around in Maya... I've got it on my computer, but I really need to see someone who knows what they're doing using it - I don't have the time or the patience to just hack through it myself at the moment... I'm told that it's great, and I intend to learn it very soon... I really look forward to it. I hear that some of the interface is way "friendlier" then MAX...
